The Easiest Way to Get More Prepared

There’s more to that pack than what’s inside it.

You don’t need a gym. You don’t need an expensive weighted vest. And you don’t need another piece of gear collecting dust in the closet.

You probably already own everything you need to start rucking.

Rucking is simply walking while carrying a loaded backpack — but when you use the pack and equipment you’ll actually depend on in an emergency, it becomes much more than exercise.

In this video, I break down the benefits of rucking and explain why it should be part of your fitness and preparedness routine.

After 14 years in Search and Rescue, rucking was a major part of my life. I’ve carried everything from a minimum operational load of around 45 pounds to a real-world loadout approaching 72 pounds. And I learned some very important lessons about what happens when you consistently put heavy loads on your body.

This video isn’t about seeing how much weight you can carry. It’s about becoming more capable.

I specifically talk about:

• The cardiovascular benefits of walking and rucking
• Brain health and mental well-being
• Blood sugar and metabolic health
• Digestion and walking after meals
• Muscular endurance and work capacity
• Bone and joint health
• Balance and stability
• Mental toughness
• Why you should train with the pack you actually use
• How rucking can help you test your emergency gear before you need it
• How often you should ruck
• How long you should walk
• How much weight to carry
• How to gradually increase your pace, distance and terrain

And I’ll show you why you don’t need 50, 60 or 70 pounds on your back to benefit from rucking.

Start with a manageable load. Start walking. Build your conditioning. Test your gear.

Because when an emergency happens, you don’t get to suddenly become prepared.

Preparedness isn’t something you buy. It’s something you practice.

So grab the pack you’re actually going to use, put some reasonable weight in it, and get moving.

Emergency waits for no man.
