First, develop a family communication plan that does not rely solely on cell networks because those will be overwhelmed or deliberately targeted during a mass casualty event. Third, harden your home against the secondary effects - extended power outages, supply chain disruptions, and potential civil unrest that follows major attacks. Store at minimum 30 days of food, water, and essential medications. Fourth, develop situational awareness habits that become second nature. Know the exits wherever you go, recognize pre-attack indicators, and trust your instincts when something feels wrong. Fifth, establish alternative communication methods including ham radio capabilities. When cell towers go down or are deliberately disabled, HF radio may be your only link to information and coordination. Get your technician license and join a local amateur radio emergency service group.

The question is whether you will be caught off guard or standing ready when that day comes.
