DAILY BRIEF: In June 2024, former MMA fighter Shannon Ritch fatally shot Alejandro Samplina in a Phoenix parking lot during a dispute over a parking spot at Twin Peaks restaurant. Ritch claimed self-defense, alleging Samplina chased him with a knife, and was released after police reviewed witness statements and surveillance footage. The case was dismissed without charges and is 100% closed.
