How Ishmael, a Broken Covenant & False Unity Set the Stage for the Antichrist
The Inheritance War
This series was inspired by my brother-in-law: a 30-year Sheriff veteran, 12-year Navy Intelligence officer specializing in radical Islamic terrorism, and our current Pastor. In the spirit of Christmas and Christianity, there are no in-line ads in today’s special article. ~ Chris
In the first article HERE [Promise, Power, Covenant & the War of Worldviews That Never Ended], we established something modern Christians are rarely taught plainly:
The Abrahamic story is not ancient history.
It is an unfinished conflict.
Abraham was not promised a quiet lineage or a private religious tradition. He was promised numbers, power, kings, dominion, and global consequence. Those promises did not evaporate with time — they multiplied. And where there is inheritance, there is always dispute.
This article examines how that dispute evolves into end-times deception — and why the Antichrist does not emerge from chaos, but from a counterfeit peace built on a fractured covenant.
Two Sons. Two Futures. One Irreconcilable Divide.
God’s covenant with Abraham was unconditional, eternal, and specific.
“I will make of you a great nation… kings shall come from you… and I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you forever.”
— Genesis 17:6–7
But Scripture is equally explicit about who carries the covenant forward.
“Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.”
— Genesis 21:12
This is not favoritism.
It is theology.
Isaac is born by promise.
Ishmael is born by human intervention.
God blesses both — but He covenants only one.
“I will make Ishmael a great nation… but my covenant I will establish with Isaac.”
— Genesis 17:20–21
This distinction matters because blessing without covenant creates power without legitimacy.
Ishmael: Power Without Redemption
Ishmael is not cursed. Scripture is clear about that. He is promised:
Vast numbers
Political strength
Regional dominance
Enduring influence
What he is not promised is:
The Messianic line
Redemption through sacrifice
The Seed who crushes the serpent
Paul explains the spiritual dimension plainly:
“He who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit.”
— Galatians 4:29
This is not about ethnicity.
It is about flesh versus promise.
Human solutions versus divine fulfillment.
The Reversal of Genesis
Islam does something no other major worldview does:
It reverses the Abrahamic inheritance.
Ishmael is elevated as the chosen son
Isaac is subordinated
Jesus is affirmed — but only as a prophet
Sonship is denied
The Cross is rejected
Atonement is replaced with obedience
Scripture names this rejection explicitly:
“Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist — he who denies the Father and the Son.”
— 1 John 2:22
This is not a political critique.
It is a biblical diagnostic.
The Antichrist’s Greatest Weapon Is Not War — It Is Unity
The Antichrist does not rise by burning churches or outlawing religion.
He rises by:
Offering peace
Offering order
Offering unity
Offering reconciliation
Offering safety
“All the world marveled and followed the beast.”
— Revelation 13:3
Paul warned the Church exactly how this would look:
“When they say, ‘Peace and safety,’ then sudden destruction comes.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:3
The final deception is not atheism.
It is faith without truth.
Abrahamic Language Without the Cross
The Antichrist’s system will not reject Abraham.
It will weaponize him.
It will speak of:
One God
Shared heritage
Moral order
Sacred tradition
Global peace
It will honor Jesus — but only as teacher.
It will accept Scripture — but only selectively.
It will demand unity — without repentance.
This is the critical distinction:
It offers covenant language without covenant authority.
Inheritance without sonship.
Peace without sacrifice.
Salvation without blood.
Why This Deception Works
Because it appeals to everything fallen humanity wants:
Stability without submission
Order without obedience
Morality without repentance
God without judgment
Unity without truth
“Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”
— 2 Corinthians 11:14
The Antichrist does not counterfeit evil.
He counterfeits good.
The Final Architecture of Deception
Daniel describes a ruler who:
Brokers peace in the Middle East
Exerts economic control
Centralizes authority
Blasphemes God
Demands allegiance
Revelation describes a system that:
Marries political and religious power
Seduces the nations
Persecutes those who refuse to compromise
The fractured Abrahamic inheritance provides the theological scaffolding for that system.
Not through hatred.
Through reconciliation without Christ.
The Line That Cannot Be Crossed
Abraham’s story does not end in unity.
It ends in division.
Jesus Himself said so:
“I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.”
— Matthew 10:34
That sword is not violence.
It is truth.
Isaac leads to Christ.
Christ leads to the Cross.
The Cross leads to resurrection.
Anything that bypasses that path — no matter how peaceful — is deception.
Final Word
The Antichrist does not overthrow Christianity.
He redefines it.
He offers the promises of Abraham while denying the fulfillment of Abraham — Jesus Christ.
That deception has been forming for four thousand years.
And it will only succeed if believers forget the difference between blessing and covenant.
