BLUF
The cartels built an air force before your county built a plan.
Sinaloa scouts arrested near Presidio, Texas were supporting drone operations carrying explosives, and a rival cartel has authorized a tiered bounty system on Border Patrol agents. These are designated foreign terrorist organizations running insurgent tactics on our southern line, hundreds of attacks a month, while their quieter business, a stolen-fuel empire, washes billions through American banks. The crossings collapsed and the cartels didn’t. They diversified. Their product lines, drugs, people, fuel, and money, ride the interstates north on schedule, and the schedule includes your county. The border was never a place. It’s a supply chain with your zip code on the route map.
I break this down in tonight’s episode. Catch the full panel broadcast below.
WHAT YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND
Here’s how it reaches your street. A rental two blocks over becomes a stash point. A pill pressed to look like a prescription lands in a high school. The gas station’s fuel invoice traces back through three shell companies to a cartel storage yard. And none of it makes the news until the arrests, which is the first time most families learn the machine was ever there.
THE MACHINE’S LEDGER
Drone-borne explosives near Presidio, Texas, and a bounty system authorized on Border Patrol agents
More than 300 cartel attacks in a single month this summer, with over 1,400 killed since late February
Fuel smuggling now the cartels’ second-biggest income after drugs, with roughly a third of Mexico’s fuel illicit
More than $7 billion in suspicious cartel-linked activity flagged by American banks in about 14 months

The counterintuitive part: the locked-down border made the machine leaner, not weaker. With migrant smuggling revenue collapsing, the cartels shifted into fuel, extortion, and industrial-scale money laundering, and every one of those lines needs American infrastructure, your banks, your highways, your rental market, to run.
The X is your belief that the border is a Texas problem, while the cartel machine’s products, people, and violence ride the interstates into your county on schedule.
EARLY WARNING INDICATORS
Arrests clustering in your state. Cartel-linked arrests, stash-house busts, and money-laundering indictments in your state’s news, not Texas’s, are the visible edge of a distribution network being rolled up. One bust is enforcement. A run of them in a quarter deserves to be read as a possible network map until proven otherwise, and tracking them means reading the machine’s footprint in near real time.
Overdose numbers moving. County overdose and fentanyl-seizure reporting is the most honest distribution data you’ll ever get, because product doesn’t show up where the machine doesn’t operate. A sharp move in your county’s numbers may indicate a new supply line. That’s the week for the family conversation, not after the school sends the letter.
Escalation against Americans. Attacks on US personnel, new bounty reporting, or American strikes on cartel targets mark the machine shifting from business posture to war posture, and each one raises the odds of spillover and retaliation inside the US. When they stack in a single month, tighten the routines you built this week.
